Description: Why this layer exists: This layer was created to be used with the cartographic highways layer in the basemap. It was created with Netcurr road segments dissolved based on street name and physical jurisdiction, with manual additions and review. Roads were further split by maintenance responsibility (City Maintained or Not City Maintained) based on Street Maintenance's "Street Conditions" layer. Functional Class (field name DISPDET) was added based on "Functional Classification System HPMS 2026" layer acquired from NMDOT's open data hub. The display class generally matches the functional class but some segments have had their numbers modified for cartographic purposes. Speed limit data is intended to be added after the 2026 RAS collection.Symbolization Notes: This layer is intended to be symbolized based on the Display Class field with increments of roughly 0.4 with 3 being the thickest and 7 being the thinnest. Residential roads (class 7) should only label when zoomed in past 1:10,000. When using this layer with the Cartographic Highways layer use definition query "DISPDET IS NULL Or DISPDET NOT IN ('HIGHWAY', 'INTERSTATE', 'Ramp')"What this layer is used for: This layer is used in the basemap, the Road Maintenance Lookup app, and the NTMP Survey.What this layer is NOT for: This layer is not suitable for routing and contains no addressing information.
